T he fact that you sell the Cupra 290 here, but only as an automatic, is a disgrace to human kind.

Where is that, Mexico? You could always live in the US and not get it at all..:P

Is your Cupra 290 the same as our Cupra 300 (300ps/296bhp)?
Do you get it in 3 door and estate as well?
At least you get it though, the rest of North America doesn’t get SEAT at all.

WTF were they thinking with those contrasting body lines? It would look so much more cohesive if the line coming off the front wheel arch angled up to meet the one coming off the taillight. Ugh.

Maybe the 3door, but no estate.
Also, its the 290, the 300 didn’t make it here (and last year they only sold the 270)

I guess... better something than nothing

Like my Skoda?
It stands out on the SEAT from the side but it does work for it.
It’s like that on a few SEATs.
Leon
Arona
Ibiza

Yep - the Skoda looks much better for it.

The manual to automatic ratio is off with Skoda in Australia. Only a sixth are manuals and also don’t get the full range or specs.
It’s a situation of distance to sales. With the large distance, does the number of sales warrant the full range and resulting parts also.
It’s not great but that’s it.

Someone needs to dig some tunnels and bring them up here. I’ll keep in my garage and the local cops won’t even notice. I’ll even set it up with a fake license plate to keep attention away.

I rarely say this explicitly, but those wheels are just too big. I know they’ve got huge brakes, but that’s a little obnoxious on a small car.

Why are US market cars so ugly compared to offerings in the rest of the world
![]() 10/12/2018 at 10:35 |

It’s a DSG, so it’s better at just about everything compared to the stick, but sure, go ahead and bitch about the performance car so you don’t get anything fun...

Ye’, the 19" wheels are a little too big for me and they give a way too firm ride.

Do you mind it reading in Kilometers? You can even keep the Dutch license plates, if you want!

I agree, it would look better with 18"s

Cus u like ugly cars like the X6

Okay... lets just be frank for a moment,
It’s a FWD, 290hp hatchback. It’s not a performance car. It’s a “have fun” car. Manuals are better at having fun. If someone wanted a serious VWAG hatchback with good performance, they could get a Golf R with literally the same engine but AWD.
That’s why the CTR is manual only too, if they wanted an honest-to-god performance car, other configurations are available.

I do believe you can get them in Coke white, pot green, and heroin brown.

But you don’t have to be frank for a moment, you’re Frank all the time...

Oh shit... *mind blown*

I’m sure you can get it with a manual... THE OWNERS MANUAL!!!

I thought I was literally the only person that noticed this.
Don’t non-US market cars look, fresher? Crisper? Im not sure how to explain it but I see it mostly in European vehicles.

There’s a cleanliness of design that is just lacking in some mainly US market vehicles.
This Seat and its Skoda twin are both styled a little more dramatically than the Golf, but still look good. Especially compared to how overstyled the Focus ST and whatever garbage Chevy produced are.
